Yandex Rolls Out 3D User Interface for Android - Yandex.Shell

Moscow, March 20, 2012. Yandex (NASDAQ: YNDX) now offers Android-based device owners a shell application for their operating system. Yandex.Shell for smartphones and tablets is a customizable 3D user interface featuring Yandex Search and other services.

“Together with SPB Software’s team, who joined us last November, we have polished the shell application that SPB was developing and made a decision to distribute it for free,” says Tigran Khudaverdyan, head of Mobile at Yandex. “Yandex.Shell is a beautiful, intuitive and functional user interface that completely transforms your device.”

Yandex.Shell allows users to create multiple ‘desktop’ panels and personalize them with custom widgets, apps and folders. Panels are arranged in an intuitive 3D carousel design, making the navigation between panels easy and fun, as users can just swipe from panel to panel. Yandex.Shell also features preinstalled service panels, such as Yandex.News or Yandex.Weather, offering instant responses to users’ urgent questions, for example, “What’s going on?” or “Do I need an umbrella?”.

Yandex.Shell is available to customers in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Kazakhstan.
