Yandex.WiFi

Yandex.WiFi is a state-of-the-art technology enabling wireless computer connection to a local area network or to the Internet. This technology makes the Internet truly mobile and gives its users freedom of movement, be it within a room or around the world.

Many portable devices have built-in Wi-Fi support. For example, all laptops based on Intel® Centrino™ platform are equipped with integrated Wi-Fi. If your computer has the Intel® Centrino™ logo, it’s ready for Wi-Fi connection and you do not need any additional equipment.*

Today, different types of Wi-Fi adapters are offered, compatible with any portable PC. These can be adapter cards installed in the PCMCIA slot of the laptop, or external Wi-Fi adapters to be plugged into the USB slot. Installation of such adapters is quick and easy; instructions can be found in the manufacturer's manual. You will also need to install software that comes with the adapter.

Apart from laptops, handheld or pocket PCs equipped with a corresponding adapter card also have Wi-Fi access capabilities. If that is the case, specifications usually state that the handheld PC supports the IEEE 802.11 standard (the number is usually followed by a letter).
