Yandex Users Can Now Rate Online Shops

Internet, October 9, 2007. Yandex has started publishing user ratings for Yandex.Market, the portal’s network of online shops. Online shoppers can now choose an e-commerce site based on cumulative user opinion that is available to all the Yandex.Market visitors.

The rating of an online shop is accumulated from users’ reviews left on the shop site itself and is influenced by those who use the “Favorite shops” function as well as by other parameters. In order to maintain its rating presented in a scale from one to five stars, a retailer must regularly receive user reviews.

“Users of Yandex.Market can now choose where they shop online based on reviews by other customers,” said Aleksey Avdey, project manager at Yandex. “We believe it will lead to attracting customers not based purely on their prices but on customer ratings as well.”

Yandex.Market offers online shops an opportunity to increase the number of user reviews by asking customers to rate them. E-commerce sites must link the rating system to their pages in order for the Yandex.Market rating service to apply to them.
