Yandex Labs is looking for interns to work on exciting projects in search engine quality and optimization, such as crawling, indexing and various aspects of learning to rank in their Palo Alto office. The internships will be centered around one or several projects chosen mutually by the Yandex Labs mentor and the intern, and will ideally result in a publication in a major conference or journal and have impact on Yandex production systems. Dates of internships are flexible, typical internship lasts about 3 months. Come to us and taste the experience of a semi-startup environment, in which hard work and motivation pay off fast. Requirements:

Working toward PhD in Computer Science or related major

Solid mathematical background

Strong UNIX skills, ideally supported by software development experience in UNIX

Strong C++/Perl/Python/shell scripting skills, Hadoop/Map-Reduce experience a plus

Machine learning, data mining, graph theory, information retrieval coursework and project experience a must
